Useful stuff we found (out)

This is general info about things ingame that you didn't know about, came as a surprise, etc. - like the Mystic Forge in LA was news to some members, or that you can access the bank at the crafting stations too.

So, what i found is a diving place in Kessex Peak, with goggles that change you into underwear and two diving skills.

Awesome smile I hope they have more that kind of "useless" little cookies buried in the game.

I read the other day that it costs 3 silver 50 copper to reset 70 attribute (or trait, old habits are hard to die) points (at the Retrainer of course, not by buying a new book)

I've checked my trainer in LA and he says he can retrain my traits for some money based on my character level which is 75 copper at lvl 26.

If you're going for a zone completion, but are missing a point of interest (or more), switching between map layers will help. The map fades to black for a moment leaving the icons, so its easier to spot the inactive squares.

You can use mats in mystic forge and gems as well. There is some list on wiki but its pretty messed up.

Re: Useful stuff we found (out)

Not sure if everyone know this or not, but in many maps there is a mini-dungeon of sorts. So if you're not up for a full-blown dungeon, try these:  http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dungeon#Mini-dungeons

These are generally pretty well hidden in the map, so I thought not every one would come across it. Don't read the link if you don't want to spoil  the locations!

It helps to do  this with another person, because if you get downed you'll have to start all over...

There's more to free traveling than meets the eye. Here are two hot tips for the economically minded traveler:

#1: After you have completed the personal story quest The Battle of Fort Trinity (70) a portal between Fort Trinity and the headquarters of your chosen order (in Gendarran Fields for Vigil, Boodtide Coast for Whispers and Lornar's Pass for Priory) is activated, making Orr just a short jog away from Lion's Arch. Whispers has the fastest route, Priory takes the longest, but all of them are still considerably closer than running all the way through Bloodtide Coast and Sparkfly Fen.

#2: Free bank access and crafting anywhere in PvE? This is how to do it: when out in the wild, press 'B' to bring up the WvW window. Choose "Go to Yak's Bend borderlands" (other areas work as well if YB is full but it's the most convenient choice). Crafting stations are to the east of your spawning point, and you have full bank access through them. Merchants are also conveniently available for stocking up salvage kits and gathering tools. Once you're done, do not go through the portal to LA, but instead press 'H' to bring up the hero window. Choose the last tab on the left and click "Go to the mists" which sends you to the sPvP lobby. Press 'H' again and from the last tab click "Leave the mists". This will take you back to the location in PvE where you started from!

Do not log out of the character while in WvW, because it will reset your PvE location and you'll be sent back to LA when you log in again.

Re: Useful stuff we found (out)

The bank is especially handy that way then smile
Also if you want to use waypoints to get deeper into Orr cheaper, it's cheapest from The Grove been porting from there myself. Some the waypoints in Malchor's Leap are actually pretty close to The Grove, closer than the waypoints in the other side of the zone

I had that feeling in Gw2. Often when I opened a birthday present, I got something related to the map, or good or not dependent on where I was. So I started opening them in high level areas and got a lot better stuff.

Ok, not sure whether this is obvious to everyone else but I came to me as a revelation: Ark just pointed out a couple of days ago that major traits can be changed any time outside battle, only the trait lines are fixed.

I dont think this is true, I done daily yesterday in WvW and I got 50s, done monthly in WvW and got 20 copper. Not sure how it works really, I think its random or monthly does only reward 20 copper and 20 coins.

THere seems to be some "random" factor to it, since it isnt the same each day, but it might just be random smile

The master weaponsmith in LA sells all the gathering tools and salvage kits for karma. Black lion stuff excluded of course.

EDIT: scratch that, they patched it out

Getting attacked while gathering has a chance to ruin the material.
